NFL quality American Football posts

"Harrod supply American Football posts for the annual NFL International Series at venues including Wembley Stadium, Twickenham and the new Tottenham Stadium."

All Harrod Sport manufactured American football goal posts are designed, developed and built in East Anglia and have been installed in a wide range of world-class sporting venues including Twickenham, Croke Park and Wembley Stadium.

Harrod's International NFL American Football Posts are used for NFL International Series games in the UK, including Seattle against Oakland in October 2018, the first to be hosted at Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium.

From clubs to the world's largest teams, all Harrod goals and equipment are designed to competition standards of safety and construction.

Innovation in assembly

From refining designs and materials to improving safety, portability and easy storage, Harrod has prided itself on innovation for over 60 years. The American Football Post Assembly lifter is an excellent example of this.

Designed specifically for raising and lowering American football posts, the American Football Post Assembly lifter allows the setting of goal posts without the need for a tractor or motorised vehicle.

Built from steel, the heavy duty winch and pulley system allows for the easy raising of goals while the rubber roller protects the posts from damage and the unit's small size leaves a minimal footprint on the playing surface.

Post and pitch dimensions

While the crossbar height and width are the same, Club posts are 4.6m shorter than NFL posts while still conforming to BAFA (British American Football Association) standards.

International NFL American Football Posts:

Designed to NFL (National Football League) and BAFA (British American Football Association) standards and regulations, this model is constructed from 150mm diameter aluminium and is fitted with a heavy duty hinged socket assembly. These posts are finished in official NFL luminous yellow.

Dimensions (internal measurements):

Uprights: 10.6m (34.7 ft)

Overall height 13.7m (44.9 ft)

Crossbar height 3m (9.8 ft)

Width: 5.6m (18.3 ft)

Club American Football Posts:

Designed to NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) and BAFA (British American Football Association) standards and regulations, this model is constructed from 89mm diameter aluminium, is fitted with a hinged socket assembly and finished in polyester powder coated yellow

Dimensions (internal measurements):

Uprights: 6.1m (20 ft)

Overall height 9.1m (29.8 ft)

Crossbar height 3m (9.8 ft)

Width: 5.6m (18.3 ft)

Pitch dimensions

NFL and BAFA regulations specify that a full-sized field should adhere to the following dimensions:

Length: 360 ft (120 yards)

Width: 160 ft (53.3 yards)

End zones: 30 ft (10 yards) each

Grid segments: every 15 ft (5 yards)

Notes:

  • Measurements are made from the inside edge of the boundary lines.
  • The entire width of the goal line is included in the end zone.
  • All field dimension lines should be 4 inches in width. Sidelines and end lines may exceed this.
  • Goal posts should be positioned on or outside the end lines for safety reasons.

Maintenance tips

If properly maintained, posts can last for many years, but general wear and tear could reduce the life of your posts.

To protect against this, regular maintenance is essential. This includes correctly raising and taking down the posts and regular checks for fixtures and fittings and using touch-up paint to help prevent rust spots on steel posts.

One of the most common causes of damage to American football posts are strong winds. For this reason, it is recommended to take down posts in these conditions.

Harrod produce professional quality posts for all levels of the game. Take a look at our range to find the right type for your school or club
